Story
Thailand has become my second home over the past 15 years. In Thailand, I found love, my wife, and, thanks to the contributions of several teachers, I discovered the more martial aspects of Taijiquan, the discipline I have been teaching for 10 years. Finally, Thailand has been my gateway to Southeast Asia. I owe a lot to this country and its people. The only thing that saddens me is that in recent years, the country is meeting the same fate as many other places in the world: it is being completely swallowed by the tourism industry, which flattens everything, destroys local cultures, and falsifies economies. Moreover, mass tourism, a product of social networks, massively contributes to the destruction of natural environments.
The collection of photographs shown here is an excerpt from my archive concerning my travels in Thailand from 2011 to 2019.
Racconto
La Thailandia nel corso degli ultimi15 anni è divenuta la mia seconda casa. In Thailandia ho trovato l’amore, mia moglie, ho scoperto – grazie al contributo di diversi insegnanti – il senso più marziale del Taijiquan, la materia che insegno già da 10 anni. Infine la Thailandia è stata la mia porta d’ingresso al Sud Est Asiatico. Devo molto a questo paese e alla sua gente. L’unica cosa che mi dispiace è che negli ultimi anni il paese sta facendo la stessa fine di molti altri luoghi del mondo: sta finendo per essere completamente inghiottito dall’industria del turismo che appiattisce tutto, distruggendo le culture locali e falsificando le economie. Inoltre il turismo di massa, figlio dei social network, contribuisce in modo massiccio alla distruzione degli ambienti naturali.
