LAOS – Lento, andante, ozioso, sud

Story
Traveling in Laos, some adjectives spontaneously emerge, so I played, in Italian, with the name of the country to make it an acronym. Thus, Laos became: “Lento” (slow), like the rhythm of life dictated by the processes of nature; “Andante” (flowing), like the Mekong River that governs the rhythm; “Ozioso” (idle), like the sense of calm and rest seen in the people; “Sud” (south), referring to the area I focused on during my second trip to Laos in 2015.
This photographic collection emerges precisely from this journey. It consists of a series of portraits of everyday life taken among the rural villages and those along the banks of the Mekong, “the mother of waters”.
Racconto
Viaggiando in Laos emergono spontaneamente alcuni aggettivi, così ho giocato con il nome del paese per farlo divenire un acronimo. Ecco che quindi il Laos è divenuto: “Lento”, come il ritmo della vita scandito dai processi della natura; “Andante”, come il fiume Mekong che ne governa il ritmo; “Ozioso” come il senso di quiete e riposo che si vede nella gente; “Sud” come la zona nella quale mi sono concentrato durane il mio secondo viaggio in Laos, nel 2015.
Questa raccolta fotografica emerge proprio da questo viaggio. Trattasi di una serie di ritratti di vita quotidiana realizzati tra i villaggi di campagna e quelli che sorgono lungo le rive del Mekong, “la madre delle acque”.
